The air inlet of the horizontal pump is up and the exhaust port is down. Sometimes for the vacuum system pipe installation and the connection is convenient, the exhaust port can be connected from the horizontal direction, that is, the inlet and exhaust direction is perpendicular to each other.
Attention in Vacuum Filtration
In operation process, you should never perform a vacuum filtration without a vacuum trap and better keep the trap clean, or it is easy to get sucked in there.
Hawach vacuum filtration can be performed with funnels that have a flat surface. What we should pay attention to is that vacuum filtration is not fit for solvents with low boiling points such as dichloromethane, diethyl, or other similar solvents. Moreover, when you are done with the vacuum filtration, you should remove the tubing from the filter flask before the turn off the vacuum filtration.
