SPE Cartridges Structure

The structure of the SPE cartridge is mainly divided into four parts: column tube, sieve plate, adsorbent and supporting device. The characteristics of each part are briefly introduced below.
Column tube: A carrier for the adsorbent, made from serum grade polypropylene. Commonly used in the shape of a syringe, glass column tubes are also available for special analysis, such as PAEs analysis.
Sieve plate: It acts as a fixed adsorbent and a filter solution. It is usually made from polyethylene. For special analysis, it can also be made of Teflon, stainless steel or glass.
Adsorbent: A substance that acts as a separation in a solid phase extraction column. There is early application of Al2O3, Florisil, graphitized carbon black in column chromatography, and the most commonly used silica gel bond and adsorbent, which are made by bonding spherical silica particles to various functional groups; the organic polymer adsorbents by the invention at the end of the last century, such as polydivinylbenzene-N-vinylpyrrolidone, have replaced silica-bonded adsorbents in many applications due to its reproducibility, wide pH range, and wide applicability.
Supporting device: The sample storage device increases the volume of the container above the column tube and increases the single sample loading; the adapter is used to connect the column tube with the column tube, the column tube and the sample holder.
