The HPLC column product line has several reversed-phase columns, including polybutylene, polystyrene and free carbon versions. Hawach Scientific is more resistant to pH than silica gel columns, so we are applied to withstand harsher conditions such as high pH and operating temperatures. However, because of HPLC column special surface properties, analysts should maintain certain experimental conditions for the successful analysis of various analytes.
Carboxylic acid, fluoride and phosphate ions are strongly adsorbed on Hawach’s HPLC column. To be clear about these materials, 50 column volumes, 10 volumes of water, 50 volumes of 20% acetonitrile-0.1 acid mixture should be rinsed with a mixture of 20% acetonitrile and 0.1M sodium hydroxide or 0.1 M tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide. Volume water, and finally 20 volumes of 100% organic solvent. For polybutylene and polystyrene columns, the chromatographic operator can use methanol, acetonitrile, isopropanol, or tetrahydrofuran. At least 20% tetrahydrofuran should be used for the free carbon column.
